To our groups:
Thank you for your patience while The Warrenton Meeting Place has been closed during the Covid 19 pandemic. We are working to reopen the facility as the Virginia public-health guidelines allow beginning on June 22. To make this happen, we need your help. As a state-chartered corporation established to operate TWMP in a facility owned by the Town of Warrenton, we must follow those guidelines as we reopen our doors.
The facility will reopen as soon as practicable under the latest guidelines, but only after we have taken prudent steps to protect the safety and health of the groups and members who use TWMP. We ask that each group desiring to use it first agree by group conscience on Zoom to follow the guidelines, and to designate a leader and alternate responsible for ensuring the group meets these guidelines. Once those group members contact TWMP via our website (www.twmp.org) with contact information for the leader and alternate, they will be issued new keys to enter the building.
The guidelines are fairly simple: Wear masks inside the building, maintain social distancing, and wipe down surfaces in the main room and restrooms after each meeting. Seating has been rearranged to maintain distance, so please don’t move the chairs. For now, there will be no coffee service or bottled water. Members may bring their own carry-out coffee or other beverages. No sharing of food or drinks is allowed at this time.
TWMP will have a limited supply of masks for those who don’t have one. We will provide cleaning supplies, and a checklist to follow in accordance with the steps other public facilities are taking to reopen. In keeping with Tradition Seven, if you take a mask please consider making an additional contribution so we can continue to provide them for all who need them.
We will maintain the Zoom account provided while TWMP was closed until the end of June. After that it will be up to individual groups to set up their own Zoom accounts if they decide not to reopen, or to have “hybrid” meetings with a laptop on the table for those with health or other conditions that make it inadvisable to attend meetings in person.
Thank you again for your acceptance of these unusual conditions. We will modify them as soon as public health authorities decide it is safe to do so. Although TWMP is not affiliated with AA or any other 12-Step organization, all of us are in recovery. We understand the importance of carrying the message and returning to our normal meeting format as soon as possible, while always keeping in mind the First Tradition – “Our common welfare should come first.”
Yours in service,
The Warrenton Meeting Place Board of Directors
